About you:

To be successful you will have previous experience of managing an Editorial team. Knowledge of Adobe InCopy, InDesign, and Photoshop. Strong knowledge of using a CMS, such as WordPress, or other online package.  

Experience of Editing a busy newspaper, magazine, or news-based website and knowledge of the Irish health service and the medical profession is essential.

About the Role:

As editor you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of both the magazine and website – including the commissioning, editing, and writing of copy, liaising with contributors, managing an editorial team, budgeting, coordinating commercial content, delegation, and taking the lead on developing new digital content in addition to producing special clinical publications, running regular seminars and taking a lead role in supporting our market leading Irish Healthcare Awards.

Irish Medical Times is published in Dublin by MPI Media, which is part of the UK business and consumer publishing company, Metropolis International Group Ltd. All MPI Media staff are primarily home-based workers.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Taking Editorial lead on MPI Media’s gala annual Irish Healthcare Awards.
  • Representing the publication/ business in the media and on external panels and forging productive links with representatives of the medical profession and the pharma industry.  
  • Produce high quality magazine and online content to deadline. 
  • Provide quality speakers and content for meetings, seminars, or other events.  
  • Develop new revenue opportunities through editorial/sales initiatives.
  • Ability to maximise productivity and efficiency of staff
  • Proficiency to demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative while remaining within policy process parameters.
