Job Details

Job Description:

FN is hiring! We are looking for a business journalist that is passionate about the world of work - what that means today, and what City firms will need to grapple with tomorrow.

We'd love our Careers Correspondent to dive into this area and unpack the post-pandemic landscape shift that is taking place in the City - whether that means unveiling the hidden cons of hybrid working, laying bare the weirdness of work-life balance for firms taking up land in the Metaverse, revealing the crazy hiring frenzy that's taking place in ESG/Green Finance, or showcasing stories about the latest work-life trends taking place across banks, trading floors and all other major financial services firms.

Menopause, abortion, transitioning between genders - these are just some of the themes we'd want you to courageously tackle in relation to how personal life choices and circumstances among City workers are impacting their working lives and their firms.

We're looking for a journalist with insatiable curiosity, talent for finding absolute gems for stories, and a flair for writing with colour and quirk that will captivate readers.

Do you have what it takes to find the first-person stories of personal battles with burnout?

Are you able to get to the bottom of what side hustles people in finance adopt to make up for cooling salary bumps amid the cost-of-living crisis?

FN could be the place for you - apply now!

Requirements:

  • Submit full CV.
  • Submit 5 examples of recently published work (among these, at least three should be no older than 12 months)
  • In 500 words, tell us why you think you would make a great fit and why this role would interest you. We would also like you to provide three examples of stories you would immediately research/write, complete with a nutgraph, potential headline and intro.

  • Be prepared to discuss these at the potential interview with FN's hiring manager and Editor.
