Job Details

Reuters is looking for a reporter to take on the role of U.S. Aerospace Correspondent with a focus on Boeing, its suppliers, customers and rivals.

This is a crucial period for Boeing, a company with a 106-year history and a record of having helped put astronauts on the moon and brought commercial jets to the global mass market. In the coming years, Boeing is looking to restart deliveries of jets that had been stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic, navigate increased regulatory scrutiny and a strained supply chain and deliver on targets for more sustainable aviation as it pays down debt and moves toward the launch of an all-new jet. Boeing’s defense and space businesses are crucial to U.S. government programs, and its target of winning more high-margin service contracts will be tracked by investors. The U.S. aerospace correspondent will work closely with the team of Reuters reporters covering global airlines, its main rival in commercial jets, Airbus, and related government agencies from the FAA to the Pentagon.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of high-impact and exclusive stories and an ability to cultivate a wide-range of sources. The reporter must be comfortable diving deep into the details that matter on stories ranging from corporate culture to engineering and from industrial supply chain issues to regulatory overview. The successful candidate will need to have an understanding of financial accounts and markets. This job will be based in Washington, D.C. or Seattle.

As our Aerospace Correspondent, you will:

  • Break news and deliver deeply reported stories about Boeing’s turnaround and transformation plans
  • Be part of our global companies team and collaborate closely with the reporters covering airlines and Airbus in the interest of covering Boeing’s partners, customers, rivals and regulators.

To be our Aerospace Correspondent, you will likely have:

  • At least five years experience in journalism
  • A track record of breaking news
  • A demonstrated understanding of the aerospace and defense industries
  • The ability to be a strong team player

Please note, the deadline for applications is Friday 26th August 2022.
