Deputy EU Editor
Company: POLITICO
POLITICO is looking for an experienced editor to help drive our EU coverage in Brussels.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for European politics and policy, a track record of sharp hands-on editing and team leadership skills, and the vision to lead coverage that stands out from the competition.
POLITICO prides itself on producing distinctive, addictive journalism that gets the EU bubble and those watching from afar talking. We drive conversations that matter and do so in ways that surprise and entertain our readers.
We’re looking for a deputy editor to manage an ambitious group of reporters with varying levels of experience, and grow our coverage of issues ranging from the EU’s trade, foreign policy or migration agenda to the internal wranglings of the Commission and Parliament.
This is a busy, hands-on editing and management role working to produce compelling and impactful journalism for a sophisticated digital readership as well as our weekly paper edition. The role will operate side-by-side with the EU editor, and be expected to coordinate closely with other editors across the newsroom.
Qualifications
- Experience editing or background as a senior reporter/correspondent
- Team leadership skills
- Knowledge of European politics and policy
- Strong English-language writing and editing skills
- Ability to work under pressure and on deadline
- Knowledge of other European languages is a strong plus
