Energy Reporter (Brussels)
POLITICO is looking for a reporter to join our energy team in Brussels.
We’re seeking a reporter able to draw on their experience in covering energy policy to write agenda-setting stories and to break news on topics that move from core issues of pipelines, coal mines and oil fields to high politics, as countries weigh the costs of a rapid shift away from Russian energy. The beat also includes the impacts of climate change and the green transition.
The successful candidate should be able to develop a wide range of sources in the EU institutions, national capitals and in the industry to break news. They should have a talent for framing how policy plans hatched in the Brussels bubble affect the lives of people across the Continent, and break news on fast-moving international energy stories with authority.
This is a full-time role based in our Brussels newsroom.
Role and Responsibilities
- The reporter will work in a team covering EU energy and climate policy for both POLITICO subscribers and a broader readership
- The reporter will jointly author our daily newsletter Morning Energy and Climate, write news reports and deliver longer reads that appeal beyond a core audience
- They will be a public face of POLITICO at events and panels on topics related to energy policy.
- We’re looking for a journalist with at least three years of newsroom experience, preferably covering energy, as well as languages beyond English and the drive and enthusiasm needed to cover this hugely competitive story with clear impact for POLITICO.
