Job Title: Language Content Consultant

Division: Collins Learning

Location: Switzerland

Reports to: Creative and Content Director - Collins Learning

Contract: Fixed Term Contract

Introduction to the role

As an expert in language publishing, you will work with the Language Content Team Manager to maintain and develop Collins linguistic data, continually refining and adapting it as market opportunities and publishing evolves.

Along with the Language Content Team Manager, you will advise on resource requirements and help plan the workload for the Language Content team, so that business objectives can be achieved.

You will work with the Operations & Resources Development Director to monitor the use of the Collins Dictionary website, assessing the implications of potential developments on the Languages team and planning and advising to deliver objectives as efficiently as possible.

You will work with the Head of Business Development to ensure that customers' needs are met with regards to data content and supply, and you will advise on the data improvements designed to maximise potential income.

Working with others, you will use your knowledge and experience to ensure that appropriate tools and processes are in place to allow the team to effectively manage all types of linguistic content and that this content is efficiently utilised in both print and digital formats.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Identify and research developments in online dictionary use and advise how Collins Dictionary can challenge other players in the market.
  • Provide language advice and support for creation of publication quality dictionary output for print, digital and licensing use.
  • Use your technical knowledge and experience to help the Language Content Team ensure they use the best tools and processes to support their work.


Your first six months

 

  • You will establish yourself as one of the managers in the Language Content team, confirm your role as strategic lead for the team and support the Language Content Team Manager in staff management.
  • You will build on your existing knowledge of the software and processes used to maintain language data within Collins and be able to assess and support developments suggested by the team.
  • You will use your understanding of our language data licensing customers to assist the team in creating and managing the accurate and trustworthy language content they demand.


Experience required

 

 

  • Proven experience in language publishing, print or digital.
  • Experience in Business development and either as a main or subsidiary role.
  • Experience in working with third party suppliers and customers, scheduling and managing budgets.
  • Experience in team management.


Skills required

 

 

  • You will be comfortable working with corpus and language database technology.
  • You will be a strong team player used to delivering results through effective team working.
  • You will have a keen interest in languages and a passion for creating authoritative digital language content that accurately reflects the world we live in today.
  • You will be a logical thinker with ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • You will enjoy explaining and advocating for language solutions at all levels.
