Montel seeks an environmental markets reporter to join its Spanish bureau.

Montel News is looking to hire an environmental markets reporter in Spain. You will have native level fluency in English, as well as excellent Spanish language skills. You will join our dynamic team and provide in-depth coverage of energy-related developments on a variety of different topics focusing on the energy transition, for instance green certificates, hydrogen, carbon markets and PPAs.

The successful candidate will be able to multi-task and work with news editors and reporters in several locations to produce timely and exclusive copy.

The position will involve producing original stories about environmental markets, with translation work also required. 
Responsibilities will also include fact checking and proofreading.

Main skills required:

• Reporting experience and excellent language skills.
• Familiarity with energy markets and/or financial journalism will be beneficial but not essential.
• Some data journalism experience, or at the least an affinity with numbers, is a bonus as our news coverage is highly data driven.

Key responsibilities:

• Covering Iberia’s green energy industry
• Following the transition to a carbon neutral economy
• Developing contacts and establishing relationships with companies in the energy sector and the government
• Being up to date with the relevant policy developments at national and EU level
• Synthesising complex information quickly

Terms:

The terms of employment will depend on the candidates’ experience. Montel’s office in Iberia is located in Madrid, but flexibility options are available.
