The Wall Street Journal, Germany Economics Reporter (Berlin)
The Wall Street Journal's Germany bureau is looking for a Germany Economics Reporter to join its Berlin team.
The position would entail coverage of the German economy and economic policy, from taxation to banking regulation and fiscal policy, and of higher-altitude European economic issues, from the impact of phasing out QE to economic divergence in the eurozone.
The EU's largest economy and most populous member state stands at a political and economic crossroads as the Merkel era nears an end and President Trump's attacks on free trade challenge the core of the country's export-oriented economic model.
The successful candidate would be able to write quick political news as well as engaging and sophisticated enterprise on macro-economic themes.
A solid writing track record across a range of formats; good economic literacy, including basic economic math; experience in gathering and visually processing data sets; and some knowledge of the German political system would be required, as would a solid command of the German language.
